       Ada Lovelace discovered that a computer could follow a sequence of instructions—that is, a program.
       Ada Lovelace has been called the world's first computer programmer. What she did was write the world's first machine algorithm for an early computing machine that existed only on paper. 
        Of course, someone had to be the first, but Lovelace was a woman, and this was in the 1840s.
       The first computer programming language was created in 1883, when a woman named Ada Lovelace worked with Charles Babbage on his very early mechanical computer, the Analytical Engine.
        The daughter of famed poet Lord Byron, Augusta Ada Byron, Countess of Lovelace — better known as "Ada Lovelace" — showed her gift for mathematics at an early age. ... Because she introduced many computer concepts, Lovelace is considered the first computer programmer.
