Meditation and Its Benefits
Self-control increases as the brain and mind become unified during meditation. Thus paving the way for clear decisions to be made. The study says that by meditating for at least 20 minutes daily, one can gain physical, mental and brain health, increase self-control and live a happier life.
The ability to distinguish between good and evil is unique to man. Man can do any thing only if he feels that it is good. Our mind determines what is good and what is bad. It is our duty to control such a mind and guide it to good. Problems arise when you fail to control this. The human mind is like an ape. Will not be fixed in one place. Will continue to jump. If the mind is not controlled, the difference between man and animal will go unnoticed.
Meditation is the way our ancestors showed us to control the mind. Meditation protects not only the mind but also the body. By controlling one's mind, good thoughts will prevail. Body and mind will be healthy.
Everyone can meditate. There are some guidelines for that. There is nothing wrong with trying on your own. However it is better to approach a guide and get meditation practice.
A quiet, relaxed, off environment is essential to make the day. Early morning time would be perfect for this. One can meditate at a time called Brahma Mukurtham. You can meditate even in the evening if you have such a quiet environment.
Low light, pleasant environment, quiet place, fragrant air etc. will further ensure the mind to engage in meditation.
Listening to soft, off-beat music stimulates the nervous system and reduces autism.
Get up in the morning and take a bath or wash your hands, feet and face. Those who cannot sit on the floor can do so in a comfortable chair.
Meditation for a long time in the beginning seems like an impossible task. Therefore, it is important to set a goal to meditate for 5 - 10 minutes. You can increase the time of meditation a little bit while doing it regularly.
